A Small Tip for Bloggers
Sep 1st
I originally wrote this for a DigitalPoint thread, but I’d like to spread around a little.
I don’t hesitate pointing out even small factors that could potentially help your website’s optimization with the search engines.
A small tip that a lot of bloggers forget about is encouraging readers to comment on your posts.
Why?
Google absolutely loves updated content. I’ve seen this first hand. The bots come back “for more” when they see an active website. An active website to Google is considered multiple webpages being updated/added to (ie. Blog comments!).
You see all over the the forums here how people stress upon unique content and filling your site up with useful copy. This is important. In fact, it’s more important than the tip I’m giving now. However, why not do both so you can dominate your SERPs more quickly?
Encourage your visitors/readers to post their comments by posting about debatable topics. Since it depends on your industry, you’ll have to do some thinking to see what people will respond to.
Also, DON’T require registration in order for visitors to blog. You’ll lose about 95% of the comments you’re wanting simply because people hate registering.
This alone will not get you to higher SERPs. This is an excellent way to get Google and other search engines to come back to your site more frequently, ultimately bringing you more traffic.
The Internet Is Evolving
Mar 27th
Pardon my absence. Over the past month I went to South Beach Miami for a week (wonderful) and also visited Gulf Shores, Alabama for a few days (also rockin’).
This past month has really shown progress through my websites. Both visitor and revenue statistics have increased. I debate with myself sharing these stats. Yes, I talk to myself. Usually about the weather. I may share with you my revenue and visitor statistics sometime in the future, but not now. I’ve had bad experiences in the past when I shared my income with friends and family.
Anyways, what I wanted to mention in this post is that the internet is extremely, extremely versatile. That means it’s ever-changing, moving all the time. The web is evolving into a superpower.
Thinking like this has made me ponder over what’s to come in the near future. No one saw Myspace, YouTube, or Gmail coming did they? But then again, who saw the automobile or airplane coming? No one, exept those with the ideas.
It may just seem like incoherrent rambling to you (maybe it is), but it sure makes me feel as if I’m losing if I don’t stay on top of this ‘Evolving Internet’. I remember even sensing as if I’m losing money by not doing anything. My conclusion to this post is just a suggestion: Think about what’s to come. If you can’t think or spawn any new ideas, wait for it to come, and market it like there’s no tomorrow. Every niche explosion like Myspace and YouTube started small. Watch for these small new sites and do what you can to profit from it before that market is flooded.
Cheers.
Valentines Day Ideas
Feb 9th
I thought I’d go ahead and share with everyone some ideas I’ve had and used for valentines day.
Here are some great ideas:
- Concert tickets to her favorite band. The chances of the band being in town around valentines day is slim, but getting tickets for sometime in the near future is certainly a great gift.
- Make a video and/or slideshow with pictures of the past and present of both of you.
- Massage and spa appointment. I’ve found that gift cards to a spa isn’t as romantic as simply making an appointment for her. I plan on making her an appointment for her to get a 1 hour massage, followed by…
- Dinner, of course! But pick something fun. This means not Chili’s. Come on, do better than that. Pick a fun restraunt like one of those Japanese restraunts that cook in front of you. Or go someplace with excellent sceneary like walls that are aquariums, filled with fish. Be creative.
- Even if the Mrs. says she doesn’t want any roses, or gifts, or whatever … FOR THE LOVE OF GOD GET THEM! Get her some roses, a little teddy bear, chocolate, you know all that crap. She’ll love it.
- This is optional (because the other ones aren’t
) – But writing her a very very small, and to the point poem or statement will really show her that you’re not just looking to please her by buying things for her. Let her know where your heart is by writing it down on words. Just look for some sentimental/romantice phrases.
These are all just ideas. The point is to be creative, so just following these ideas isn’t what you should be doing. The purpose is soley for branching off ideas of your own – that’s when the girl will see that you really like her (even if you’re married
)
Best of luck to all of you.
Happy Valentine’s Day
